Reed switch applications in roboticsReed sensors play a vital role in the field of automation, offering reliable, accurate and efficient solutions for position sensing. One of the main advantages of reed sensors in automation is their ability to function in harsh environments, with resistance to temperature extremes, humidity, dirt and vibration. This durability ensures their longevity and reliability in demanding conditions. Reed sensors operate based on the principle of magnetic field detection. When exposed to a magnetic field, the contacts within the sensor make or break the electrical circuit, signaling the presence or absence of the magnetic field. This simple yet effective mechanism allows reed sensors to provide accurate and instantaneous responses.

The versatility of reed sensors also allows them to be easily integrated into existing automation systems, providing cost-effective and efficient solutions. With their wide range of applications and reliable performance, reed sensors have become an indispensable component in the field of automation, enhancing the efficiency and control of various processes.

In Industrial Automation applications, every hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder or actuator requires a Reed Sensor or a Magnet Sensor for end position sensing. Unlike inductive sensors or Hall-effect sensors, Reed Sensors use no power and have a good isolation. They have high operating speeds, work with a wide range of voltages of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and micro-controllers. Special Ferro-magnetic metal detection Sensors can also detect any ferrous parts and do not require an external magnet for actuation.
