Home and Workspace security is paramount and most newly constructed spaces integrate security products during construction. Security consists of monitoring the state of doors and windows, locks, motion and having them controlled by a central controller which is generally integrated to an smart phone or a custom website.
Reed Switches are used in the production of sensors for monitoring the state of doors and windows as well as locks. Magnets are mounted on the interior frames of doors and windows, and the reed sensors, on the fixed frames. As long as the doors or windows remain closed, the contact is not broken.
Normally Open, or Normally Closed reed sensors can be used depending on the circuit logics but in most cases, normally-open devices are preferred. Special reed sensors which contain highly accurate magnets can even sense metal doors using the principal of field shunting. In a workspace or a home installed with door and window security, information such as which door needs to be closed at the time of exiting the place, or how many times the front door was opened can be collected and saved for analysis or push notifications to mobile devices.
Application Classification
Applications are classified as Position Sensing, Pulse Counting, Electromagnetic or Relay, Temperature Sensing or MagnetBiasing types. This application is classified as follows and the link gives more information on best practices to help select the most suitable AT band and matching magnet.
A Position Sensing Application is one which requires the end position of a movement...Continue reading ->
Recommended Products
The Reed Switches and Sensors used in such applications need to be robust, durable and efficient in meeting a high life expectancy. Our engineers work hard in life testing our products under various conditions, and our intention is to ensure end product durability and life. Although we wouldn’t want to restrict any of our products for use in only certain applications, the recommended products for use in this application are listed below.
