White goods, also known as household or domestic appliances, play a crucial role in our daily lives. These appliances reside in our kitchens and laundry rooms, simplifying our routines and making our lives more convenient. From cooking to cleaning, refrigeration to laundry, white goods encompass a wide range of devices that have become an integral part of modern households.
Refrigerators, one of the most essential white goods, are designed to keep our food fresh and prevent spoilage. Reed Switches are used in refrigerators to turn the light on when the door is opened and also trigger an alarm when the door is not closed properly.
Washing machines, another indispensable white good, take the hassle out of doing laundry. These appliances are equipped with advanced features like different wash cycles, adjustable water levels, and reed sensors that detect the closing of the doors and whether there is enough liquid detergent level loaded are one of the few applications. With a simple push of a button, we can have clean clothes ready to wear without the need for vigorous manual labor.
White goods such as dishwashers have revolutionized kitchen clean-up by effectively handling the after-meal mess. These appliances save us time and energy by efficiently cleaning our dirty dishes and cutlery. They use powerful jets of hot water, combined with detergents, to remove stubborn food particles, oil, and stains, leaving our dishes sparkling clean and germ-free. Reed Sensors are used to ensure the spray arms are not jammed due to wrong placement of dishes inside which sometime move even during a wash cycle.
Reed Switches and Reed Sensors used in domestic Appliances and White Goods under go higher Shock and vibration, and also extremes of humidity and temperature. Special Sensors are manufactured in packages that withstand all of the above. They also have the added advantage of directly switching 110V / 230VAC line voltage.
The most widely used white goods applications are listed below. We have also suggested recommended products for use in each application, but this does not mean that the other products in the same product category will be unsuitable. We have also classified individual applications into types and these guidelines will help select the right magnetic sensitivity and type of magnet to use from our range of products.
