Dish Washer and Washing Machine Fluid Level Sensing
Dish Washer models are equipped with smaller reservoirs for fluids such as detergents which are essential for their continuous operation. These reservoirs serve different purposes depending on the specific appliance. The fluid level of these reservoirs need to be more than half full.
Washing machines typically contain liquid detergents or fabric softeners to facilitate the cleaning and protection of clothes, while dishwashers utilise water softeners to reduce the hardness of the water supply and prevent stains on dinnerware.
To monitor the fluid levels within these reservoirs, a window is commonly incorporated behind the Dish Washer or Washing Machine doors to allow for manual inspection. Over time, however, these windows can become tainted, making it challenging to accurately ascertain the fluid levels. To address this issue, a small foamed magnet on a spindle can be attached to the reservoir cap, along with a reed sensor integrated into the circuitry of the Dish Washer. This combination enables the precise detection of low fluid levels in the tanks, with highly consistent readings.
When the Dish Washer reservoir nears empty, the reed sensor detects this situation and sends a signal to the processor. This signal activates an LED indicator on the control panel of the Dish Washer or Washing Machine. The user can then top up the reservoirs before the next wash cycle is used. In certain applications, specialized reed sensors are employed to directly switch line voltages without requiring a voltage step-down mechanism.
