A Ferrite is a type of compound that exhibits magnetic properties and is made from ceramic compounds derived from Iron Oxides such as Fe2O3 or Fe3O4 as well as oxides of other metals. There are Soft Ferrites and Hard Ferrites. Hard Ferrite magnets are suitable for reed switch applications in highly corrosive environments, and are very economically priced.
