Miniature reed switches are plated with Ruthenium for high durability at low level loads. They are classified by glass diameter and length, and each of them are highly configurable with respect to the switching distance differential. For environmental reasons, the leads are plated with pure Tin, which is Lead free.
These miniature reed switches are built with flattened leads which are oriented to the contact inside. This way, when a batch of reed switches are used for an application and oriented one way, they all perform very similarly. Another added advantage is that when these reed switches are SMD formed, there is no need for any undue pressure to flatten the leads, which could in turn transfer shock to the tiny glass seals.
