Miniature reed switches consist of a pair of ferromagnetic contact blades, also known as reeds, housed within a hermetically sealed glass tube. When a magnetic field is applied, these reeds attract each other, closing the circuit and allowing electrical current to flow.

With their compact size and versatile functionality, miniature reed switches are highly sought after in industries such as telecommunications, automotive, medical, and security systems. These switches can be found in mobile phones, automobile door sensors, medical equipment, burglar alarm systems, and various other applications. Miniature Reed Switches can also be over molded to withstand higher shock and vibration.

The benefits of using miniature reed switches are numerous. They are highly reliable, with a long operational life spanning millions of cycles. The contacts are sputtered with Ruthenium for high durability when switching  low level loads. They are classified by glass diameter and length, and each of them are highly configurable by Release AT, or differential. They are also capable of switching both low-level signals and high-voltage loads, making them suitable for a wide range of applications. Additionally, these switches have a fast response time and can operate in extreme conditions, including high temperatures and corrosive environments.

Some switches also feature additional characteristics such as high insulation resistance, low contact resistance, and low operating power. Installation of these switches is simple and straightforward. They can be mounted using various methods, such as through-hole mounting, surface mounting, or PCB soldering horizontally or vertically.
