Welding Machines Use Magnet Sensors to detect Current Flow

by webmaster
Welding

Welding machines come in two main types: Constant Current and Constant Voltage. In Constant Current welding machines, the output voltage adjusts to maintain a consistent welding current.

Safety protocols dictate to keep the voltage low on welding machines until the electrode and workpiece make contact. Once welding begins, the built-in voltage regulator ramps up voltage to sustain the necessary current. However, after

welding ceases and current demand drops, voltage must swiftly decrease.

Monitoring current flow during welding times and non-welding downtimes is crucial. Special Magnet Sensors strategically placed along high-current cables detect these fluctuations. When welding concludes and current diminishes, the Magnet Sensor sends a signal to the controller. In response, the controller promptly lowers the voltage to safe levels.

This process ensures both operational efficiency and safety when operating welding machines. By swiftly adjusting voltage levels, based on current demand, welding machines can effectively manage power usage while minimising risks associated with high voltage. Moreover, the integration of Magnet Sensors enhances automation, reducing the need for manual intervention and optimising workflow efficiency in automatic welding machine operations across the industry.
