An automotive sunroofs, typically constructed from tinted glass, serve as a movable panel that offers the flexibility to be fully or partially opened or closed, allowing natural light and fresh air to infiltrate the vehicle interior.
Cars and trucks equipped with sunroofs, now often marketed as moonroofs, feature a control system operated by four distinct or combined switches. Two switches manage the full opening or closing of the roof, while the remaining two regulate partial opening or closing.
Ensuring accurate detection of the fully open or closed positions is achieved through the use of two Reed Sensors positioned at the end points, each equipped with a magnet affixed to the moving roof rail assembly. For precise control of partial roof movements, a reed sensor and a multipole ring magnet are permanently mounted within the actuation range. A vane, integrated into the roof belt assembly, intermittently interrupts the interaction between the reed sensor and magnet with each rotation of the roof motor.
The microprocessor receives a series of intermediary pulses during the sunroofs operation, allowing it to calculate the exact extent of sunroof opening or closure. By utilising knowledge of the predetermined number of motor rotations required for full roof movement, the microprocessor accurately predicts when the sunroof will reach its fully open or closed state. This real-time feedback mechanism provides drivers with precise control over the sunroof’s positioning, enhancing user experience and convenience.
Molded Reed Sensors, featuring meticulously controlled sputtered coatings, excel in pulse counting applications, ensuring reliable performance in monitoring sunroofs. Through the seamless integration of advanced sensor technology, automotive sunroofs deliver enhanced functionality, comfort, and safety, enriching the driving experience for users.
