Keycard Readers Use Reed Sensors to Authorise Entry
In hotels, ensuring the security of guest rooms while allowing convenient access is paramount. Keycard readers, pre-programmed by hotel management, offer a secure and efficient method for granting authorised entry. These systems typically employ magnetic key-cards and readers equipped with encrypted, hotel-programmable codes.
To initiate the keycard reading process, the card reader must first detect that the card has been fully inserted. This is accomplished using a small spring-loaded lever containing a miniature magnet.
When the keycard is fully inserted into the slot, it pushes against the lever, causing the magnet to move towards a sensor. The signal generated by the sensor indicates to the system that the keycard reader can scan the information.
Once the keycard is accepted by the reader, the controller activates a solenoid or motor mechanism to unlock the door. This seamless process allows authorized guests to enter their rooms with ease while maintaining security.
In environments like locks, where exposure to grease, lubrication, and dust is common, hermetically sealed Reed Sensors offer exceptional reliability. These sensors are specially designed to withstand harsh conditions, ensuring consistent performance over time.
By integrating keycard readers with advanced sensor technology, hotels can enhance security measures and streamline access control processes for their guests. The combination of magnetic key-cards, readers, and Reed Sensors provides a robust solution that meets the rigorous demands of the hospitality industry.
