Bicycle and E-bike Speedometers Use Magnet Sensors
Fitness enthusiasts rely on accurate feedback to track their progress and performance metrics, whether it’s calorie burn, distance covered, or maximum speed achieved. Bicycle manufacturers are now integrating magnet sensors, into their designs to provide comprehensive data to cyclists.
Magnet sensors accurately measuring wheel speed and this data is then processed by an onboard microprocessor to derive a range of valuable metrics. By strategically placing two magnets on opposite ends of the wheel and positioning the sensor near the brake pads, the sensor generates a square wave output corresponding to the wheel’s rotations.
This output is then interpreted by the microprocessor to calculate crucial statistics like top speed, average speed, and even calorie expenditure.
Moreover, the microprocessor can synchronize with handheld devices or display units to relay real-time data, enhancing the cyclist’s ability to monitor their performance on the go. For instance, it can initiate timers to record start and end times of rides, which are then combined with user-specific details such as height, weight, age, and sex to accurately estimate calories burned during the cycling session.
This integration of magnet sensors not only enhances the functionality of bicycles but also elevates the cycling experience by providing cyclists with meaningful insights into their workouts. It empowers users to set and achieve fitness goals more effectively while enjoying the benefits of precise data analytics tailored to their individual needs.
